Health and wellness startups have formed the group Health Tech Startup Thailand as a means to encourage hospitals and clinics to adopt innovative technology. The rise of the Internet of Things (IoT), big data analytics, artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain have spurred health tech startups in Thailand over the past several years, said Sathapon Patanakuha, a committee member of Health Tech Startup Thailand. "It will also increase our health tech community recognition among public and private hospitals," Mr Sathapon said. Mr Sathapon said the cybersecurity law and data privacy law are essential to increasing confidence in health tech. He said health tech startups need to wait 3-5 times longer compared to other types of startups before they can expect to make a return on investment as the industry must meet regulations regarding patient safety.
